Claudia Beretta

Expert in Sustainable & Cultural Project Development in Africa

Claudia began her career in Brussels in 1995, working with the European institutions on agriculture, rural development, and environmental issues. In 2000, she joined the EU Delegation in Tunisia, where she managed the bilateral cooperation on agriculture, working on project management, tenders, project evaluations and technical missions.

In 2003, she joined the Italian Ministry of the Environment as an advisor at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations in New York, and later at the Italian Embassy in Cairo. In Egypt, she managed bilateral partnerships focused on climate change, renewable energy, and water management.

From 2010 onward, Claudia lived in Ethiopia, Eswatini and Rwanda, working as a consultant for governments and international organisations. In particular in Rwanda, she collaborated with the Italian Ministry of the Environment on a project to facilitate Italian and EU entrepreneurs in investing in the green economy in the country, and with the German cooperation agency (GTZ) to support young Rwandan entrepreneurs in developing their start-up.

She is currently based in Brussels, where she works as a freelance consultant and runs her own business for the promotion of the African cultural heritage.

She is also a board member of the Leonardo Del Vecchio Foundation Rwanda, supporting the construction of a Center of Excellence in Ophthalmology in Kigali and a passionate photographer with several exhibitions held during her time in Africa.
